As a private developer (ie the one who owns the house), the process from the first sketch to the last mistake corrected can be like a ride on the roller coaster. There are many new things to deal with, materials, technical systems, professional terms and construction techniques. The hardest part, though, is the human relationships you have to deal with. Why does the contractor now say that? Is it because the subcontractors are pushing, or is it because profits are being maximized, or is it because the professional experience points to a different solution than the one the consultants think is correct? It all becomes colored by emotions, because it is the family's base and financial security that is constantly at stake. It can be difficult to navigate, even for experienced project managers.
