The Pillow Factory

My first project for my best friend, Steen. Well, it is not a new project. But it’s still one of my favorites. You can see it a bit in the decor. It's been almost 20 years. Back then, white and light walls were wildly popular. Back then, it was actually an unreflected obviousness. Here, in the pillow factory, it works excellently, because there are such large areas of glass that the direct and reflected light mere the outside and inside. Thereby completing the architect's mission.

The pillow factory was just that. A 70s-like factory in Herning, where they made pillows. In order to obtain planning permission to change the use from commercial to residential, it was necessary to remove some square meters. I did this by cutting a large garden space into one side of the building. I angled the southernmost wall of the courtyard a bit to get some tension in the design, and to make the courtyard open up a bit. The southern wall became a divide between the public part of the house (living, dining and kitchen), and the more private parts. The entrance hall is large and spacious. From there you walk through a corridor from which there is access to rooms and the shared bathroom. The bedroom has its own bathroom with tub. Some of the load-bearing walls from the pillow factory created a couple of exciting spaces in the children's rooms, one of which has a nice little alcove.
